Open tool βWhy does a 165 Hz tone push water out?
A speaker makes sound by moving a thin cone back and forth. Low tones move the cone farther than high tones. Around 165 Hz, a small phone speaker moves a lot of air, and that pressure pushes water drops toward the grille and out of the phone.
Dust needs a different approach. Fast sweeps shake the mesh at many frequencies, so particles that sit at different spots get loosened. That is why we use separate Water and Dust modes instead of one sound for everything.
What to do right after your phone gets wet
- Take it out of the water and remove the case.
- Wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Tap it gently with the speaker facing down.
- Run the Water Eject tone for 60 seconds, 2 to 3 times.
- Let it air-dry. Wait before charging if your phone shows a liquid warning.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers, no hype.
Does a speaker cleaner sound really work?
Yes, for light problems. A low tone like 165 Hz makes the speaker cone move a lot, and that movement pushes water droplets and loose dust out through the grille. It cannot fix a speaker that is torn, corroded or electrically damaged.
Is it safe for my phone?
Yes, when used as directed. The tones stay within the normal range your speaker plays every day. Start at a medium volume, raise it to max, and stop if you hear harsh rattling that does not go away.
How long should I play it?
Run one 60-second cycle, test your speaker, and repeat up to 3 times. If sound is still muffled after that, let the phone dry for a few hours and try again.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus and other phones, plus tablets and laptops. Vibration mode works only on Android browsers that support it.
Should I put my wet phone in rice?
No. Apple and other makers advise against rice because starch and dust can get inside the phone. Wipe the phone, run the water tone, and let it air-dry with the ports facing down.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is installed and your audio never leaves your device.
Can it clean the earpiece and microphone?
Use Ear Speaker mode for the small top speaker. Microphones do not move like speakers, so sound cannot push water out of them; air-drying is the best option. You can check your mic with our Mic Test.
Why does my speaker still sound muffled?
Water may be deeper inside, the grille may be packed with dirt, or the speaker may be damaged. Try Deep Clean, gently brush the grille, and test each side with the Speaker Test.
