iPhone Water Eject Sound (No Shortcut Needed)

Get water out of your iPhone speaker straight from Safari or Chrome. Works on every iPhone model.

How to use it

Three quick steps.

Open in Safari or Chrome

Turn off Silent Mode and raise the volume fully.

Hold iPhone speaker-down

The bottom speaker grille should face the floor.

Run 2 to 3 cycles

Play music between runs to check the sound.

iPhone does not have a built-in water eject

Apple Watch has a Water Lock that ejects water, but iPhone does not. Many people use a downloaded Shortcut. This page does the same thing without installing anything.

If your iPhone shows a liquid detection alert

Unplug it right away and do not charge it until the port is dry. Tap the phone gently with the port facing down and leave it in a dry, airy place. Apple advises against putting it in rice or using external heat.

Works on every model

iPhone 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, XR, SE and older models all play the tone through the bottom speaker; newer models also use the top earpiece for stereo.

Questions people ask

Is it the same as the Water Eject Shortcut?

It plays a similar low tone. The difference is that you do not need to install or allow an untrusted shortcut.

Will it damage my iPhone speaker?

No. The tone is within the speaker’s normal range. Stop if you hear harsh, constant rattling.

My iPhone is water resistant. Do I still need this?

Water resistance keeps water out of the inside, but the speaker grille can still hold drops that muffle sound.
